1449 Sector Based Work Academy Rail Engineering Track Maintenance
Shipley College is working with Platinum Rail to deliver a Sector Based Work Academy. The course is 8 weeks long and will run Monday to Friday. The course is 70% practical and will take place at Keighley and Worth Valley Railway.
|Qualifications & Training:
In the first six weeks you will complete the following:
•Level 2 Certificate in Rail EngineeringUnderpinning Knowledge
•Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Rail Engineering TrackMaintenance
In the last two weeks the course will cover the following:
•Personal Track Safety
•Fire and First Aid Awareness
•ICI (Industry Common Induction)
•TIC (Track Induction Course
You will need GCSE Grade D or above in maths and English, however if you do not have this, the College will provide an initial assessment to ensure your suitability.
Initial assessments will take place Friday 22nd November

Britain has Europe’s fastest-growing railway and needs trained, hard-working individuals who are prepared to work round-the-clock to keep the system moving safely, reliably and efficiently.
Course starting Monday 2nd December & finishing Friday 7th February.
This is a free course for any who is 16+, inreceipt of benefits and actively seekingemployment.•The College will fund all required PPE (personalprotective equipment) need for the course aswell as the medical drug & alcohol test.
